Our time together is about helping your teen with their needs and concerns – figuring out what those are, talking about their thoughts and feelings, working through ideas and beliefs they have about themselves, and building skills to help them in life. We work together to determine how our time is best spent, and what they (and you) want out of our time together.
Your teen’s therapy is about where they are in their own life’s journey. I am here to walk with your teen as they figure out who they want to be. Your teenager is a son or daughter, maybe a brother or sister, a friend, a student, and many other things. Sometimes it’s a lot for a teenager to fill each of their roles while still becoming their own person. I make it my goal to support their growing and exploring process, while helping them walk through whatever it is they are facing.
On a personal level, my Christian beliefs guide who I choose to be. Please know though that it is completely up to you and your teenager whether or not faith will be incorporated into our counseling sessions.
Why Teens Love Working With Me:
I’m honest with compassion. I listen without judgment. I’m not afraid of any topic your teen needs to discuss- stuff they are wondering about, secret pains or fears, sadness, joy, family, God, relationships, sexuality, drugs…all of it. I bring a loving, no nonsense, personable approach to counseling because I honestly care about your teen.
Why I Love Working With Teens:
Your teenager’s life is filled with excitement, expectations, physical changes, social changes, and shifts in the way they perceive their world. I find it gratifying and enjoyable helping the next generation start to “figure it out,” and work through the tough questions. I also enjoy adventure, and teens are on a journey.
I have been working with adults, kids, teens, couples, groups, and families for almost 30 years. This includes volunteering in a number of counseling, mentoring and leadership roles in various ministries, and as a professional, pre-licensed therapist.
